Personal Commendations

Ian Gourlay initially joined the RelateCare team in June 2013 as a consultant to lead our Lean process improvement initiatives by applying Lean thinking and methodologies to our Healthcare contact centre. He successfully developed and delivered Lean yellow belt training to approximately 500 internal staff and some of our external clients who were all certified on completion. Ian became a permanent member of our team working as Continuous Improvement and Workforce Utilization Director where he used his thirty years of extensive experience implementing process, project and change management programs within the business. Ian was successful in delivering real savings and efficiencies to the business across a multiple of disciplines and was instrumental in changing the company culture

During my time as Director of Operations at RigneyDolphin we engaged the services of Ian Gourlay to roll out a Lean transformation in the business. This involved a complete training program and accrediting approx. 300 staff to lean yellow belt certification and an ongoing focus on using lean methodologies throughout the business. The program was a huge success delivering both staff engagement increases as well as operational improvements and process efficiency benefits. Ian’s approach was engaging, and he always maintained a very enthusiastic involvement both in the initial program, ongoing lean implementation and continuous improvement projects. Most significantly in my view was Ian’s approach to implementing a cultural change in the organisation where continuous improvement was at the forefront – No change is too small, and every improvement is important. I am happy to highly recommend Ian for any Lean implementation or Continuous Improvement projects.

Rigney Dolphin - Operations Director
With my financial background, interests and objectives, implementing a ‘Lean’ philosophy and strategy has always made sense and been of paramount importance to me. In my experience of working with companies and consultants, Ian Gourlay’s wide range of Lean training whether that be white, yellow or green belt is the best I have encountered. He has the unique ability to interact, engage and inspire people whether they are starting out on their Lean journey or at senior director and management level. His approach is the highest impact, proactive and unique that I have encountered, and I thoroughly recommend anyone attend this training and follow up mentoring if the opportunity arises.

Ian Gourlay completed training across UPMC in Ireland for Yellow Belt and Green Belt. Ian was so easy to work with, flexible and empathetic to the complexity of trying to remove healthcare workers from the front line for classroom training. Ian worked with us to incorporate elements of our strategic priorities into the training delivery. A truly enjoyable experience for all staff involved.
